Maxentius, 307-312. Follis (Bronze, 25 mm, 6.44 g, 7 h), Ostia, mid 309-beginning of 310. IMP C MAXENTIVS P F AVG Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maxentius to left, holding spear over his right shoulder and decorated shield on his left; on cuirass, gorgoneion. Rev. AETERNITAS AVG N / MOSTQ The Dioscuri standing facing, heads turned toward each other, each holding bridle of horse in right hand and scepter in left; between them, she-wolf standing left, head to right, suckling the twins Romulus and Remus. Drost 32c. RIC 37 var. (officina not listed). Extremely rare and with a beautiful bust type. Areas of weakness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
