Piedmont (Sub-alpine) Republic: AN 10 (1801) Liberty Head 20 Francs 'ITALIE DELIVREE A MORENCO' with apostrophe before A & no dot (which is rarer than the apostrophe after A). This coin commemorates Napoleon's victory in the Battle of Marengo. Interestingly this is the world's first gold coin in decimal currency system. 6.47g. Graded PCGS 'MS 62', fully lustrous, near gem UNC. Very well struck with all intricate details fully clear. Sole highest graded example. Fr-1172, KM C5. Major rarity in such beautiful quality. (P)
