As if the artistry for the 10 colones printer's model (as lot 95) could be topped, the gorgeous, hand-painted pink and blue hues across this unique 5 colones printer's model are particularly appealing. Every detail - borders, denominators, vignette, bank title - was carefully pasted to reflect the bank note's concept. The artist paid particular attention to the coloration and shading of the central vignette depicting bananas being loaded aboard train cars with a distant mountain visible in the background - a wholly Costa Rican scene. As this design was never put into production, this model remains the only means to own this bank note; it is mounted in a thick, heavy cardstock frame with Thomas de la Rue's stamp on the back.
