MS63 BN | Ireland, bronze Penny, 1940, Irish harp centre, dividing ÉIRE on left and 1940 on right, rev. depiction of hen with chicks facing left, denomination '1d' above, PINGN in truncation below with initials PM to the right for designer Percy Metcalfe (KM 11; S. 6643). Appealing example with silken surfaces, one of the rarest dates of the series, graded by NGC as MS63 BN.

Calendar Year Mintage 312,000.

Irish legend on the obverse translates as "Ireland", the reverse truncation text as "Penny".
