Æthelred II the Unready (978-1016), 'Long Cross', Penny, 997-1003, Lincoln, Kolgrimr, + ÆDILRED REX ANGO, the NG ligate, diademed and draped crude bust left, rev. + COLGRIM M-O LINC, NC ligate, voided long cross, 1.51g, 9h (Mossop pl. xi; BEH 1709ff; North 774; Spink 1151), crimped and creased, the portrait of crude style perhaps indicative of a Scandinavian imitation, otherwise darkly patinated, almost very fine.
