James II (1685-1688), Sixpence, 1688, laureate and draped bust left, rev. late shields altered from early, four strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 3.02g, 7h (Pywell-Phillips 132; Bull 777; ESC 1528 [R2]; Spink 3413), lightly flecked, more noticeably so across bridge of nose, a trace of adjustment to French shield, otherwise richer cabinet tone with underlying lustre, a pleasingly bold very fine.
