William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, York, Halfcrown, 1697 'Capital V for y' NONO, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, different cut y below, rev. large crowned shields cruciform, large late harp with eight strings, six billets, lettered edge, 14.50g, 6h (Bull 1101 [R5]; ESC 552; Spink 3492), stained and cleaned, adjustment marks on reverse, otherwise a really bold fine, an admittedly superb example of this extremely rare variant, only two further examples listed on CoinArchives and one of these (the Lingford coin) is clearly from the same obverse die.
