William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, York, Shillings (7), 1696 Y [Capital], first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, Y below, rev. crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, nine billets, edge obliquely milled, 5.71g, 6h; another, six strings to harp, nine billets, 5.85g, 6h (Bull 1189; ESC 1087; Spink 3503), both heavily rubbed, lightly toned, good to fair; also 1696 y [Script], similar, rev. five strings to harp, 5.67g, 7h; also, five strings to harp, 5.68g, 6h (Bull 1191; ESC 1086; Spink 3502), the first heavily scuffed and porous, the second rubbed, both mediocre to good; and, 1697 y [Script], as first, rev. at least five strings, seven billets, 5.84g, 6h (Bull 1196; ESC 1100; Spink 3052), struck with soft dies, the harp strings unclear, but evidently could be seven strings, fair, scarce; and, 1697 y, third bust (2), rev. 'large date', six strings to harp, eight [?] billets, 5.67g, 6h; another, 'small date', five strings to harp, 5.91g, 6h (Bull 1199 [R2]; ESC 1107; Spink 3510), the second cleaned and retoned, otherwise fair, the first toned, good and of curious (7).
