Anne (1702-1714), Post-Union, Edinburgh, Shillings, 1709-E *, Local dies (2), fifth 'Edinburgh' draped bust left, rev. crowned 'narrow' shields cruciform, angles plain, six strings, edge obliquely milled, 5.75g, 6h (Bull J/8; Bull 1445 [R]; ESC 1153; Spink 3616), rubbed and toned, good / near fine, rare; another, as last, but no stop after ANNA, and struck en médaille, five strings, 5.61g, 1h, scrubbed and scratched, poor, the reverse very much so, but the variety clear, and like the similarly-dated Edinburgh Halfcrown issue, a mystery as to the die alignment, presumably very rare (2).
