George II (1727-1760), 'Roses and Plumes' Crown, 1732 SEXTO, young laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, roses and plumes in angles, ten strings to harp, lettered edge upwards, 29.87g, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 306; Bull 1660; ESC 117; Spink 3686), some edge bruising [partly from the collar?], otherwise on the usual irregular flan for issue, unfortunate staining spots in otherwise richly cabinet toned fields, handsome iridescence in recesses, the shield devices boldly struck up, a pleasing very fine, scarce.
