Canute (1016‑35), Penny, Helmet type (c.1024‑1030), London mint, moneyer Brungar, pointed helmet bust left with sceptre in front, legend surrounding at 1 o'clock, CNVT R• EX ΛNG. Rev, short voided cross with pellet and annulet centre, pellet in annulet in each angle, all within linear circle, reads +BRVNGΛR ON LVN, 1.03g (S.1158; N.787; BMC XIV; SCBI 13 [Copenhagen, Part IIIa] 2241‑51). Lightly toned, obverse struck with partially rusty dies free from any peckmarks, some die breaks, legends clear with a pleasing portrait. Rev, fresher tone, legible legends in the main, good very fine.
