Israel - 10 Pounds 1948 - Anglo Palestine - PMG 55 - Prefix A - Serial num' 442233 - Rare
In our opinion a big injustice was done in this grading, this is a note that should not have been received below the grading of 64, before the grading we showed it to a number of experienced collectors who also said that in their opinion the note will not get below the grading of 64. After the grading we tried to find the reason that would lead to this grade. We suggests that everyone take a good good look at the note, even get to our office and review it for yourself and make the decision regardless of grading. Beautiful note, strong paper and strong colors.
The Anglo Palestine Banknote Series is the first official series of the State of Israel.
The banknotes were issued by the Bank of Anglo-Palestine on paper stamped with
colored dots as a means of preventing counterfeiting. Due to the short time left until
the declaration of the state, the banknotes were printed on engravings with decorations
that were generally prepared for printing Chinese banknotes. Since the banknotes were
printed before the establishment of the state, the names of the state and its currency were
not yet known, and therefore the name of the State of Israel does not appear on the banknotes at all.
The English Pound was chosen as the currency type.
