EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Skostokos of Thrace. 3rd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 14.16 g, 7h). Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield; herm to inner left. Fischer-Bossert, Lysimacheier F (this coin); KHM –. Richly toned. Near EF. Very rare.
Though this coin was dismissed as a modern forgery by Fischer-Bossert without discussion, considering the quality of the metal, we think that it is in fact an ancient Celtic issue.
