Constans. Solidus; Constans; 337-350 AD, Trier, 347-8 AD, Solidus, 4.42g. RIC-135 (C), C-171 (40 Fr.). Obv: CONSTANS - AVGVSTVS Pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust r., seen from front, with wreathed rather than dotted border. Rx: VICTORIAE DD NN AVGG around, TR in exergue, Two Victories holding wreath inscribed VOT / X / MVLT / XX, with wreathed rather than dotted border. This coin shows two unusual details which occur on none of the fifteen similar coins illustrated in the Berk photofile. On the obverse, the normal medallion at the top of the pearl diadem worn by the emperor is missing. On the reverse, three ties rather than the normal two hang down from the wreath held by the two Victories.. FDC
