A rare emission with module and type of the Banu Zeyan coinage. Commonly mistaken for being a double dinar due to the breadth of the flan. Despite an initial reading of the date as AH 1013 by earlier scholars and adopted here, Michael Bates has argued that this stems from a misreading of the highly barbarized date, which may be read as AH 1003, surely referring to Mehmed's accession date ("Ottoman Coinage of Tilimsan" ANS Museum Notes 16 (1981) pp. 211-212).
