George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1723, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, roses and plumes in angles, six strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 6.02g, 6h (Pywell-Phillips -; Bull 1583 six strings not noted; ESC 1175; Spink 3645), lightly toned and flecked, near very fine, the reverse better, the seldom encountered variety for date, especially with the first portrait, rare thus.
