George II (1727-1760), 'Old Head' Shilling, 1750, '5 over 4', 'Wide 0', old laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.96g, 6h (Bull 1732; ESC 1211; Spink 3704), the overdate very clear, otherwise lightly toned, a pleasing very fine.
On this third example with wide 0 the date is very clear and while the 4 under the 5 can be seen, there is no sign of anything under the 0. Perhaps this would support the observation in ESC that the wide 0 is 'always (?) with 5 over 4'.
Estimate: £100 - £140
