George III (1760-1820), 'Northumberland' Shilling, 1763, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.94g, 6h (Bull 2124; ESC 1214; Spink 3742), gently wiped on obverse, otherwise with much residual lustre, the reverse neatly toned, the portrait sharply struck and well balanced, about extremely fine, a well-known scarcity in the Shilling series.
