George III (1760-1820), 'New Coinage', Shilling, 1817, the so-called 'RRITT' flaw, laureate head right, rev. crowned shield in Garter, edge milled, 5.60g, 11h (Bull 2144var.; ESC 1232var.; Spink 3790), rubbed but lustrous, with speckled and colourful toning, a pleasing very fine, the 'error' evident but most likely the result of a broken and aged die.
