George I (1714-1727), 'South Sea Company' Sixpence, 1723, small lettering, laureate and draped bust, rev. large lettering, crowned cruciform shields, five strings to harp, SS and C alternating in angles, obliquely milled edge, 3.01g, 6h (Bull 1612; ESC 1600; Spink 3652), lightly wiped and bright, otherwise lustrous with hints of toning, a bolder very fine, a good opportunity on the eve of the Tercentenary of issue.
