1943 D (Denver) Silver (35%) Nickel, 5 Cents, NGC MS66. During the war, nickel was needed for armor plating so, from 1942 to the end of 1945, five-cent pieces were minted using an alloy of copper, manganese and silver (35% silver). NGC # 300742-055.
