A note for buyers. Evidently this coin has previously been sent for third-party assessment and has been unduly condemned on the basis of misinterpretation of die rust and clashing in the reverse fields as being evidence of solder. The present catalogue wholeheartedly disagrees with this assessment, but uses opportunity to direct vying bidders attention to our revised terms and conditions of business regarding condition reports at point of sale. The same fault is testified on an example sold through these rooms Spink Auction 25 March 2015, lot 736, therein graded AU50 which sold for £600 (incl. BP)
Estimate: £700 - £900
