Greco-Baktrian Kingdom, Diodotos II Theos AR Tetradrachm. Coregency issue, struck in the name of Antiochos II of the Seleukid Empire. Mint A (near Aï Khanoum), circa 255-235 BC. Diademed head to right / Zeus Bremetes advancing to left, brandishing aegis and thunderbolt; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ to left, monogram above eagle at inner left. Kritt C1a; Holt Series C, Group 1a; Bopearachchi 2E; SNG ANS 77. 16.25g, 25mm, 6h.

It has been convincingly argued by both Brian Kritt and Frank Holt that this is a coregency issue struck during the reign of Diodotos I and represents a continuation of the Seleukid model of succession to guarantee the future of the fledgling Diodotid Dynasty (for discussion, see Kritt pp. 1-2 and 7ff, and Holt pp. 101-6).
