Iraq 1947 (ND 1953) P-36 PCGS About UNC 50 DETAILS 10 Dinars
A very scarce type from Iraq, especially in higher grades such as seen here. At first glance the design looks identical to Pick-41 (issued in 1955) but some small differences are noted, particularly in the portrait of King Faisal II at right. This type had a print run of just 20,000 pieces, virtually all of which entered circulation, where they remained until after the 14 July revolution which overthrew the Hashemite monarchy in Iraq, at which point these notes were withdrawn on a large scale. Minor edge repairs have enhanced the appearance of this type, but they are barely noticeable and limited to the margins. A challenging type, especially so in AU. PCGS mentions "Small edge repairs".
