Confederate States 1861 T-5 PMG About UNC 53 100 Dollars
First Richmond series, issued after the Confederate capital moved from Montgomery to Richmond. While not as rare as the Montgomery issues, this first series, issued in the early days of the American Civil War is rare. Of the $100 denomination seen here just 5,798 pieces were issued, printed in New Orleans by the Southern Bank Note Company. High quality engravings are seen, making these among the most appealing and desirable of the Confederate issues.
This example carries a manuscript endorsed of Ferdinand Molloy of Tennesee, dated September 17th, 1861. Molloy served as Captain and A.C.S. under General Beauregard in the Confederate Army of the Potomac and would live until his passing at the age of 39. The note itself is a pleasing problem-free AU, uncancelled, with good margins, bright colors and no problems. It would fit perfect into an advanced collection.
