Lightly circulated Richmond $50 from the second Confederate series. A scarce denomination and type, of which just 5,798 were issued (the same number as the $100 offered in the previous lot). Printed in New Orleans by the Security Banknote Note Company, part of the American Bank Note Company located in the North, which would soon cease printing notes for the Confederacy. Fully original with good eye-appeal, a perfect companion to the $100 offered in the previous lot and part of an advanced Confederate collection offered in this sale. Manuscript endorsement of Edward A. Palfrey Captain, A.C.S. on back dated September 27th, 1861.
