THE LEVANT OR ARABIA. Uncertain. Mid to late 4th century. Trihemiobol (?) (Silver, 8.5 mm, 0.77 g, 11 h). Female (?) head to right, wearing very schematic helmet or headdress. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl with closed wings, wide open eyes and prominent claws to right, head facing; to left, olive sprig. No known parallel. Good extremely fine.

This is a very enigmatic coin. Many imitation Athenian obols are known, often from the Levant, Gaza or the Philisto-Arabian area. This specific type, with the very oddly made helmet or headdress, seems to be otherwise unpublished.
