MARIA · I · REG ·ANGL · FRANC · ET · HIB · FIDEI · DEFENSATRIX / IAC TREZ bust of Queen Mary to left, wearing elaborately embroidered gown, a brooch with pendant pearl at her breast and a cap adorned with jewels, all after the contemporary painting of the Queen by Antonis Mors. Rev. CECIS VLSVS TIMIDIS · QVIES Pax, radiate, seated to right on throne, holding wreath in upraised right hand and setting fire to a pile of arms with torch held in her left; below, a cube decorated with clasped hands, and a pair of scales (together representing Stability, Unity and Justice); behind, suppliant figures beset by a storm; before, figures and a round temple representing the Catholic Church.
