Brandenburg. Friedrich Wilhelm Taler 1675 MS64 NGC, Berlin mint, KM449, Dav-6200, Marienburg-Unl., Henckel Collection-2984, Wilmersdörffer-49, Bahrfeldt-384a, von Schrötter-2191. Commemorating the Victory at the Battle of Fehrbellin. A perfect example of history captured in a numismatic medium, this exquisite issue perfectly pairs imagery with technical preservation, standing as the finer of just two examples yet graded. Celebrating the victory of Brandenburg over the Swedish forces who had occupied parts of the Electorate from their possessions in Pomerania, this military achievement is recognized as one of the final events that established Brandenburg-Prussia's position among the great European powers. Fielding a glossy texture resulting from a combination of careful preservation and fine surface die polish, there is not an inch of the planchet that does not appear luminous, with generalized merlot and steel-blue color giving both a strong sense of age and beauty.
