German States
Brandenburg-Ansbach. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Taler 1730-V MS65 NGC, Schwabach mint, KM177, Dav-1981, Schön-32, Wilmersdörffer-1008, Whiting-373 (RR), Erlanger-Unl., Grüber Collection-4422. Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession. A highly heraldic entry within this commemorative series, which saw two different types produced in this year. Quite glassy on to the reverse especially, lingering examination under good light reveals notes from pink to plum to lapis lazuli, reinforcing the coin's status as an indelible cabinet piece. Interestingly, this is the only obverse-reverse die pairing for the date that was not represented in the Erlanger Collection.

Ex. Irving Goodman Collection (Goldberg Auction 15, June 2002, Lot 323); Virgil Brand Collection, Part 4 (Leu Numismatik Auction 69, June 1997, Lot 4060); Privately purchased from H.S. Rosenberg in April 1911 From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
