Brandenburg-Ansbach. Alexander Taler 1769 G-S MS63 NGC, Schwabach mint, KM282, Dav-1999, Schön-134, Wilmersdörffer-1086, Grüber Collection-4587. Commemorating the acquisition of Bayreuth, and its union with the House of Ansbach. Generally superior to what one would expect for the type even at the choice level, bolstered by a nebulous sapphire, rose, and electric violet toning palette set alight by waves of pondlike luster. While NGC records having seen two MS64's finer, it is difficult to imagine that they possess a significantly nicer visual quality that does the specimen on offer here.
