Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg. Johann Friedrich 2/3 Taler (Gulden) 1677 MS66 NGC, Hannover mint, KM188.2 (this coin), Dav-380, Knyphausen-2437, Welter-1731. Variety with date flanking small "2/3" denomination. A masterpiece of careful engraving and pastel tones, producing a visual caliber that very nearly seems deserving of an added plus or star. Indeed, close inspection reveals utterly few grounds for complaint, a few small annealing flaws in the Duke's hair melting seamlessly into the curls of his coiffure, while the open expanses otherwise exhibit a light stippling of micro-fine flow lines.
