German States
Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg. Johann Friedrich 2/3 Taler (Gulden) 1677 MS64 NGC, Hannover mint, KM-A224 (this coin), Dav-377A, Knyphausen-2442, Welter-1728. Variety without inner border on obverse, and ships keeling left. Frosty in the extreme, and quite possibly the nearest to an MS65 one could ever reasonably expect to encounter. Though a few minor hairlines exist it the fields to provide one of the few "caps" to the assigned grade, these require one to go out of their way to locate, particularly owing to the coin's strongly marbled topaz and tiger's eye patination.
