Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. George III of England "St. Andrew" Taler 1770-IWS MS64 NGC, Clausthal mint, KM343, Dav-2104, Schön-320 (under Hannover), Welter-2802. Typically unfathomable quality for what is otherwise an almost universally low-grade type. While the trademark flatness of strike is present over the highpoints of St. Andrew's beard and hands, any comparison with other representatives essentially falls by the wayside there, a combination of flow lines and die polish decorating the fields and providing a slightly textured backdrop to waves of cartwheel luster. Although only two examples of the date have yet been certified across NGC and PCGS combined, it is especially telling that the next finest is only an AU58.
