Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle. Christian von Minden Taler 1623-HS MS62 NGC, Clausthal mint, KM9.14, Dav-6441, Knyphausen-1955 var., Welter-921. An iconic type produced during the later period of Christian's tenure as Duke of Lüneburg, and containing a visual appeal that situates it very near to fully choice status. Markedly strong in the strike, weakness--usually a trademark for the issue--is incredibly limited over the motifs, which find themselves dressed in an even silty patina with golden accents along the outer registers. For the sake of completeness, we would note that we have handled a single MS63 graded finer.
