Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle. Christian Ludwig Taler 1649-LW MS64 NGC, Clausthal mint, KM211, Dav-6521, Knyphausen-Unl., Welter-1511. Unmistakably elusive quality for this first year in the series, and a date that we have only had the opportunity to offer once previously, in 2006. Fielding a glassy mint bloom that quite simply does not come on the type normally, more than grounding its status as the sole Mint State representative yet certified. Just minorly doubled in portions of the legends, the surfaces appear largely mauve from first glance, with hints of blue and orange emerging as one comes to the margins. Exceptionally minor cabinet friction over the higher points of the shield likely precludes gem status, though the offering's visual presence is certainly that of a finer coin.
