Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Rudolf August & Anton Ulrich Taler 1694-RB MS62 NGC, Goslar or Zellerfeld mint, KM602.2, Dav-6397, Knyphausen-Unl., Welter-2067. Exceedingly scarce as confirmed by a complete paucity of certified examples, this being the sole specimen between both major grading services, as well as auction appearances in the last few decades. The last instance of this date to cross the auction block was this example in 2008 as part of the Peak Collection; so elusive that not even Knyphausen had acquired one. With every device fully embossed on a gunmetal planchet, yielding painstaking detail to the dual portraits and framed by a lightly reflective cobalt patina one expects from the finest extant example, making this fully deserving of placement in an advanced cabinet.
