Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Karl I "Mining" Taler 1752-IBH MS63 NGC, Zellerfeld mint, KM943, Dav-2164, Schön-305, Knyphausen-1215, Müseler-311, Welter-2724. Celebrating the yield of the Güte des Herrn ("Goodness of the Lord") mine. Preserved in essentially Prooflike quality--a statement which should undeniably be taken at face value, given the notoriously poor surface quality of so many survivors, owing to the proneness of such coins to extensive annealing flaws and pitting. While the slightest hints of this occur at the right Wildman's shoulder and are also just detectable over the scene of the miners at work, this does nothing to hinder waves of pondlike finish, extenuated by what must have been a heavily polished pair of dies. Very likely finer than the Preussag or Brand specimens, and a type-date which was apparently missing from the Köhlmoos Collection.
