Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Wilhelm 2 Taler 1856-B MS65 Prooflike NGC, Hannover mint, KM1149, Dav-635, AKS-97, Thun-122. Mintage: 17,455. Commemorating Wilhelm's 25th anniversary of reign. Already an unusual type to find in gem, ranking, as an MS65, just below the peak of certified quality for the date, and yet propelled to a special position of prominence by its added Prooflike designation. For the sake of completeness, it is interesting to note that we previously offered one other example of the type in gem as part of our 2016 sale of the Cape Coral Collection of Multiple Talers. The finest of 5 yet recognized by NGC in this designation.
