Frankfurt. Free City "Shooting Festival" Taler 1716-IIF MS63 NGC, Frankfurt am Main mint, KM179, Dav-2217, Schön-21, Joseph/Fellner-2217. Commemorating the shooting festival held on the occasion of Archduke Leopold's birthday. An absolutely splendid presentation of this one-year type produced in definitively medallic proportions, with a stormy argent patina tinted with shades of metallic blue attesting to its longtime cabinet storage. Mild evidence of a die shift occurs between 5 and 7 o'clock on the obverse, adding a unique visual character sure to serve as a future pedigree marker. We have handled just a single other example in this peak grade previously, which achieved $4600 in 2008, clearly pointing to the immense demand the present offering is poised to garner.
