Frankfurt. Free City "City View" Taler 1772 PCB-OE MS65+ NGC, Frankfurt am Main mint, KM251, Dav-2226, Schön-82, Joseph/Fellner-877b. Hands down one of the most popular types from 18th-century Frankfurt, and one which collectors are usually only able to dream about becoming available in this grade. Seldom available above MS63, the stunning rendition at hand as the single finest certified out of 156 seen between NGC and PCGS to date by virtue of its added "plus" designation--and rarely is a "plus" grade so warranted. Delicately mottled over a salt-gray finish lit from behind by champagne tone, one is given the impression of looking over the city at twilight, a sense only highlighted by the superb engraving of the design. Without a doubt the nicest we have ever had the privilege to offer.
