Hanau-Münzenberg. Wilhelm IX Taler 1771-CLR MS61 NGC, Hanau mint, KM110, Dav-2288A, Schön-47, Müseler-544, Hoffmeister-2618. Type with mantel. Celebrating the Bieberer Mines. Virtually never found in Mint State, with its generally low relief leading to a quick accumulation of rub over the highpoints, making for a thrilling offering from this already lesser-seen state. Demonstrating the usual die cracks and rough surfaces for the issue, what is even more apparent is a full luster across the planchet, appearing a shade of orange peel and catching watery elements in the protected areas around the legends.
Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 47, November 2007, Lot 427) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
