Hannover. Ernst August Proof Taler 1843-S PR65 PCGS, Hannover mint, KM207, Dav-674, AKS-132, Thun-165. Mintage: 1,010. Commemorating the wedding of Crown Prince Georg of Hannover and Duchess Marie of Saxe-Altenburg. Already a more challenging wedding commemorative, its already paltry mintage leading one to wonder what percentage of that figure was struck in Proof finish. The best of what must have been a small handful so produced, this is only the third occasion we have had to offer a soundly Proof representative to our bidders (and the second occasion to offer this coin), with the depth of detail, particularly in Ernst August's hair, leaving no question as to the attention to detail with which this specimen was crafted.
