Hannover. Georg V "Frisian Oath" Taler 1865-B MS65 NGC, Hannover mint, KM243, Dav-686, Thun-178. Mintage: 2,000. A high-grade representative of this lower mintage "Frisian Oath" type, dressed in an allover mottled cabinet tone, gently obscuring what would otherwise be brilliant surfaces beneath, impressively well-preserved and lacking any major visual detractor apart from the occasional grade-defining wisp. Especially noteworthy is the full articulation of the reverse oak tree design, creating a highly appreciable composition, further adding to the allure of the piece at hand. Tied for the finest among certified examples with two others.
