Hesse-Cassel. Wilhelm V "Willow Tree" Taler 1637-GK MS63+ NGC, Cassel mint, KM162.4, Dav-6761A, Fiorino Collection-Unl., Hoffmeister-1095 var. Variety with five steeples to the right and one steeple to the left. An absolutely delightful example of the iconic Taler, one renowned for its stark and wrathful depiction of a town besieged by storm and rendered in painstaking detail fully embossed upon the planchet beneath. Displaying an advanced tier of preservation and eye appeal, with notable flashes of mint brilliance to the recesses that elevate a subtle peach and cornflower-blue skin. Only the occasional hit to the rim would confine this wholly desirable survivor to Choice Mint State status, yet as such remains the finest certified for the date and sure to pique the interest of a quality-minded collector.
