Hesse-Cassel. Wilhelm IX Taler 1789-FH MS64 PCGS, Hanau mint, KM532, Dav-2305, Schön-53 (under Hanau-Münzenberg), Müseler-551, Hoffmeister-2650. Celebrating the yield of the Bieberer Mines. Practically gem on account of its luster alone, which abounds freely over the fields, cartwheeling around the planchet and highlighting the satin texture of the fields. Admitting just a few small haymarks and minor wisps over the Landgrave's bust, this specimen remains the peak-certified across both major grading services, besting the next finest by a full two points. Quite simply unusual quality for the issue and series more broadly, worthy of a premium bid.
