Hesse-Darmstadt. Ludwig III 2 Gulden 1855 MS64+ NGC, Darmstadt mint, KM329, Dav-705, AKS-121, Thun-198. Not an issue that is easy to locate in Mint State, let alone so practically gem as seen here. Intensely satin and lustrous with just a touch of peach color to the surfaces, neither NGC nor PCGS records having seen any specimens finer. Perhaps bound in its status by the stray evidence of contact, we would note that we have not handled a representative of this penultimate series date in anything finer than an AU58 previously.
