German States
Hohenlohe-Langenburg. Ludwig Taler 1751 PPW-CGL MS66 NGC, Nürnberg mint, KM20, Dav-2355, Schön-3 (under Hohenlohe-Kirchberg), Albrecht-199. Simply captivating and a clear product of having been tucked away soon after its creation, gaining a most pleasant lavender cabinet tone giving way to cerulean and peach accents upon illumination. Struck to exacting precision and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the division of the land of the Protestant line into three parts, signified by three allegorical figures bearing the arms of Langenberg, Ingelfingen, and Kirchberg.
Ex. Köhlmoos Collection (Münzen & Medaillen AG Basel Auction 91, March 2001, Lot 299)
From the collector: What I found interesting about this coin when I bought in 2001 is that its design represents the division of land into three lines. From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
