German States
Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Carl 2 Gulden 1846-D MS67 NGC, Karlsruhe mint, KM24, Dav-720, AKS-10, Thun-208. Mintage: 9,206. It should come as entirely unsurprising that this specimen is the undisputed finest example of the date in the certified population, yet the astonishing status of its technical quality does not end there. While the generally small numbers of coins from this principality by date makes absolute comparison challenging--the only other 1846 2 Gulden in the census is an MS63 from PCGS--that this is the sole 18th-century "Crown" of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen in MS67, with absolutely none ranking higher. As such, we would highlight that the present offering affords collectors the unique opportunity to add the finest of the series to their cabinets.
