Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Carl 2 Gulden 1848-D MS65+ NGC, Karlsruhe mint, KM24, Dav-720, AKS-10, Thun-208. Mintage: 6,905. The absolute finest example of this key date to an only 4-year type yet seen, boasting a mint-fresh appearance which most collectors could only dream of locating. Close examination reveals a light stippling over the surfaces supporting flaring cartwheel luster that certainly supports the piece's added plus designation from NGC. Though the lightest contact can be detected around Carl's truncation and at his cheek, this does virtually nothing to hinder the eye's natural movement around the planchet.
